A settlement program for students and their families, as well as support for their classroom and teachers.
Settlement Worker in School (SWIS) is an outreach program designed to help newcomer students adjust into school and community, promote settlement, and foster student achievement. Through indirect lesson plans, community events, field trips, and guest speakers we work to connect you to resources and information about Canada.
Our Goal
Help each student achieve personal success and increase your participation in both your school and community.
SWIS works with students, families, and school staff to address any concerns that they may have and connect students
with the right resources.
Services include but not limited to:
- School/Sport Registration
- School Orientation for Clients
- Liaise between teachers, parents, students and support workers to accommodate meetings
Services include but not limited to:
- Connecting Families to Community Resources
- Provide Support at Parent/Teacher Interviews
- Free After school & Summer Programming
- Provide After-School Academic Support
